Default Alpha License and Activation Update

We wrote to Alpha Anywhere users a few weeks ago about our new License Management System which is designed to provide customers with a series of benefits.

The system is being rolled out now and for the vast majority of people it is working well. In a small percentage of cases some problems have occurred where
licenses are not being properly recognized. Our development staff are aware of these cases and are diligently working to resolve them.

If you you are one of those affected customers, and have NOT yet contacted us, we want to to hear from you.
    The process is the following:
    1) Send an email to custserv@alphasoftware.com
    2) Include your affected license number and a screen shot of the error message.
    3) Please include your contact information so that we may get back to you as soon as possible

    Sincerely

One of the most common problems so far has been the system clock on your computer being set incorrectly. You should double-check your clock and verify that both the current time as well as the timezone are correct.

It is important to have an accurate clock on your system for a number of reasons other than this new activation system, so we strongly recommend using Windows' ability to automatically sync your clock to a trusted time source on the Internet.

If you need help verifying your timezone, setting the clock, or configuring your clock to be synchronized automatically, the following blog article has helpful details: How To Synchronize Windows Clock With Internet Time Server

We have identified a problem in some builds prior to early November that can cause an unexpected .Net exception for some users. These builds attempt to contact the activation server on a non-standard port which may be blocked by firewalls.

If you are getting a .Net exception upon activating, please make sure you are running at least build 1788-4225 from November 15, 2013. All releases since then include the correct port and will not be blocked by a firewall. Patches are available from http://downloads.alphasoftware.com/A...chdownload.asp

If you are running a build newer that 1620 but older than 1788, and you have a reason which you cannot apply the patch, and you are getting a .Net exception when activating, ensure that your local system and any firewalls on your network will allow Alpha to initiate an outbound connection on port 8777.
